This clinic covers the latest Ford and Chrysler computer-controlled charging systems, focusing on their functionality, testing, and diagnosis. Participants will gain a deep understanding of alternator circuits, the evolution of Chrysler’s PCM-controlled charging systems, and the control of field current in Chrysler vehicles. The course also explores Ford’s “Smart Charge” systems (both first and second versions), as well as the use of LIN-controlled alternators. Attendees will learn to effectively diagnose charging system issues using scan tools and address common problems that arise with these advanced systems. By the end of the clinic, participants will have the skills needed to troubleshoot and service these complex charging systems.
